What is a Monologue Slam?

A Monologue Slam is an acting competition where actors perform on stage in front of a panel of experts, who provide feedback and select a winner. Exact rules and format vary from region to region, but the essence of the event is to give actors a space to play, create a community of artists and build a stronger industry.

There are monologue slams in Manhattan, Los Angeles, The U.K, Montréal, Ottawa, Toronto and Vancouver.

Why we created the Toronto Monologue Slam?

“Movies will make you famous; Television will make you rich; But theatre will make you good.”
― Terrence Mann

Created by Canadian actor Oluniké Adeliyi and Producer Andre Newell, Monologue Slam Canada was developed to give Canadian actors a space to compete, collaborate and create as a community. It is also a chance to experiment and showcase their craft to friends, colleagues and industry professionals, while generating professional relationships and opportunities that will enhance and potentially advance their careers. The panel of judges include some of the biggest and most influential casting directors, directors, agents, teachers, writers and actors in the industry.
