It is an honour to invite you to partner with us for the launch of the inaugural See Yourself Legacy Scholarship; a partnership between the Caribbean Scholarship Foundation and Monologue Slam Canada.
The purpose of the scholarship is to increase the representation of artists of colour in the entertainment industry by empowering the next generation of diverse storytellers, actors, directors, and producers.
We believe how we’re reflected on screen, affects how we see ourselves, live our lives, and see others. Excluding diverse artists, on and off-screen, leads to the misrepresentation and marginalization of people of colour; often showcasing them in harmful, inferior, and undesirable ways. When these portrayals become the only narrative that some people see, they create negative and dangerous consequences in society.
See Yourself will provide scholarships, study grants, bursaries, and create workshops and other development opportunities for Caribbean youth, who face significant hurdles trying to enter the industry. These individuals must demonstrate a high level of achievement, clear leadership potential, and a strong desire to make a positive contribution within their communities.
We are looking to partner with individuals, businesses, and institutions who share our vision of a more colour-filled and inclusive space in film, television, and media.
Thank you for supporting our future artists.
